Heather is author of award winning, 2019 bestselling new release, Essential Oils for Mindfulness and Meditation, and Essential Oils for the Whole Body (Healing Arts Press, Inner Traditions, USA).
Heather first learnt about essential oils, alongside other integrated therapy principles and practices, in the early 70’s. She worked for Robert Tisserand when he first set up his essential oil business in London, later studying at the University of Salford, Manchester, gaining a BSc (Joint Hon) Degree in Counselling and Complementary Medicine, and Masters Certificates in Integrated Mindfulness, and Supervision of Counsellors (University of Salford, Manchester), and a Post Graduate Teaching Certificate (PGCE) from Bolton Institute.
As well as her books, she has published a number of articles and research papers in associated professional journals, including the International Journal of Clinical Aromatherapy (IJCA).
Heather was employed at the University of Salford for a number of years in the College of Health and Social Care as Programme Lead for the BSc Integrated Therapies in Practice Degree, Module Lead for Aromatherapy, Supervision and CPD, and Communication and Professional Skills modules, and personal tutor.
A Fellow of the International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA), Heather was Chair of Education during 2013, and continues to support the IFA’s educational programme as a consultant and examiner. She is also a member of the International Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).
After relocating from Lancashire to Dorset, Heather continues to write – preparing content for her third book, and producing articles for magazines and journals – and is regularly invited to talk on local, national and international radio shows. She also delivers professional essential oil training.
Heather recently appeared as a guest speaker at ‘Wellbeing by the Lakes’ festival near Dorchester in Dorset (September 2019).
Her book, Essential Oils for Mindfulness and Meditation, won in the Book Category of Janey Lee Grace’s 2019 Platinum Awards, and she recently appeared as a guest on Janey’s Spotlight radio show (Health Radio UK).
